Let's walk the physio way

Most of our knowledge is based on the foundation of so called myths and self proclaimed tips and tricks.        One of which is children should not be allowed to walk bare foot. Their feet are sensitive so they'll develop cuts and furthermore infection.           In my opinion and career practice I've known that balancing in children is developed and improved by walking on bare foot on uneven surfaces, sand, grass etc. But ofcourse keeping in mind the safety aspects. Effective instructions. As parents we arr we can operate on a principal, "The more the merrier, the louder the clearer." However when it comes to giving instructions to children it's vice versa.        Here are some ways to present the information that children would likely hear and comply Be direct.  Be close.  Use clear and specific commands  Give age appropriate instructions. One at a time.  Keep it simple.  Give it some time. Give positively stated commands and specific. Keep your tone neutral and normal.  After you give a command, avoid speaking and wait and watch. Don't ask, Tell. Reward compliance.         As grown ups we are we often forget that we too never liked being bossed over. We too had our limitations and wants that we wished were being heard. However when we handle a kid we often forget to notice the little tiny us in that child who wishes the same.  Dr. Maria Jennifer Pinto (P.T.).
