Here are some ways to present the information that children would likely hear and comply Be direct. Be close. Use clear and specific commands Give age appropriate instructions. One at a time. Keep it simple. Give it some time. Give positively stated commands and specific. Keep your tone neutral and normal. After you give a command, avoid speaking and wait and watch. Don't ask, Tell. Reward compliance. As grown ups we are we often forget that we too never liked being bossed over. We too had our limitations and wants that we wished were being heard. Very often we suggest that when at work make sure you don't sit for long hours. Instead stand up, walk about and so on so as to prevent the risks of musculoskeletal disorders or pains, aches, tendon injuries, muscular cramps etc. However for teachers who are walking about from one classroom to another and standing up for long hours during lectures, it is important to sit down and relax. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO ENSURE A HAPPY BACK AND SMILING FEET ? While working with younger group of children (2 - 6 years ) avoid sitting on kid's furniture if required to bend. Do not bend over to the child's height either. Instead lower the height of your chair or take a stool of lesser height. You can even use the chair's chest support to keep the back aligned. Avoid ferrying pile of books from one classroom to another, it will only burden your lower back, strain your shoulders, weaken your abdominal muscles and impose inappropriate and disbalanced stress on the hips, knees and feet. During the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, changes occur in the brain's signalling. This results into reduced muscle tone in most of the skeletal muscles. The muscles that function with efficient tone are diaphragm, cardiac muscles, muscles of the digestive system. Dreaming occurs during the REM phase of sleep. Due to characteristic behaviour of the REM phase of have reduced muscle tone, our body is in the least state of awareness. Thus preparedness to respond to any kind of stimuli is low. Moreover due to minimal tension in the muscles the muscles are incapable of performing any movements. When we awake in the REM phase of the cycle, the characteristic low muscle tone, makes us incapable of performing any movements. And we take some time to react to any stimuli that we may have encountered at that time.
